Merit badges
SoulboundAwarded for something you did: building, helping, voting, being early. They stay with the wallet that earned them and can't be sent to anyone else. That is what makes them proof of merit.
Badges are small digital awards for what people do in the Block Zero community. Browse them here and learn how to create your own for a group.

Made for events, special editions and gifts. They can be sent to another wallet. Each badge type decides for itself whether it can be sent. They are on the test network first and not handed out yet.
Badges are recognition only. They have no price, give no claim to money and are never sold.

Rarity follows how many of a badge can exist: unlimited is common, up to 250 is uncommon or rare, up to 50 is epic, up to 10 is legendary.
You need to be the founder or an admin of a group, with a wallet connected. It takes about a minute.
Go to your group page and find the box called Badges on the right. Under it, open Create a badge.
Pick a short name, for example Logo Designer, and one line about what people do to earn it. Names go through the same check as group names.
Choose a symbol, a colour and a shape. The finished picture updates live. You do not upload anything: the picture is built from a professional symbol library, so every badge looks clean.
Set how many can exist (0 means unlimited) and whether members may apply. Fewer badges make a rarer badge.
If you are the only manager, the badge is active at once. If your group has another admin, they approve it first. This is the four-eyes rule.
You can change the picture of an existing badge any time with Change picture under the badge. The name and the awards stay.
In the Badges box open Award a badge, choose the badge and the member, add an optional note and press Award. The member needs a wallet.
If you allowed applications, members press Apply and write a short note. You see them under Manage group and press Award or Decline.
If a badge was given by mistake, retire the badge or remove the member. Blocking a member withdraws their badges.
A badge created by one manager has to be approved by a different manager before it can be given out. You can see the waiting badges under Manage group. You can not approve your own badge. If you are the only manager, there is nobody to ask and the badge is active right away.
Why: it stops one person from handing out badges to themselves or to friends unnoticed.
Who may do what in a group is listed on the tab Roles and rights of every group page.
The frames and colours are drawn by Block Zero. The symbols inside the badges come from game-icons.net and are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0.
